Wilkesboro, NC—Carolina West Wireless, the premier wireless carrier in western North Carolina, has announced that it has requested Federal assistance to help ensure network connectivity and modernization in remote parts of its service area.
Carolina West Wireless has submitted a request to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for supplemental universal service support to deliver high-quality mobile broadband services in rural and remote areas of western North Carolina.
As the lone provider of mobile wireless coverage across a portion of its service area, Carolina West Wireless' network is a vital lifeline for emergency communications, telehealth services, and economic development in communities like Sparta and Traphill. The company's infrastructure carries thousands of 911 calls annually, enabling essential voice and data connectivity in these underserved regions.
"The FCC's universal service program was crucial for building out our cellular infrastructure to rural areas that may otherwise have been left behind," said Slayton Stewart, CEO of Carolina West Wireless.
